It’s not news to anyone that we are constantly inundated with a new fad diets, retro food plans, cultural bias, and a media driven ideal that feeds only egos and not our whole selves. So what do we do when it’s impossible to hold onto that organic energy that we used to have as kids? What the heck do we eat to feel good again?
While no two people are alike, and therefore the food that works best for you may not always work for someone else, a few rules do apply to most to cultivate improved energy and balanced mood. Drink more water. Eat more plants. Don’t eat too much. So here are two days of good wholesome eating that should help get you back on track. If possible, try to use organic and local foods as they tend to taste better going in and feel better as your body uses them to fuel your day.
Sample Menu Day 1
Breakfast:
2 scrambled eggs with olive oil, onions, and baby spinach
½ Fruit smoothie with a splash of almond milk, and blueberries, ½ banana, strawberries, soaked flax seeds (save the other half in the freezer for later)
Lunch:
Half of an avocado with tuna ,chopped tomato, alfalfa sprouts, drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste.
Side of tabbouleh salad
Snack:
Handful of heart healthy trail mix and a piece of fruit
Dinner:
Broccoli and tempeh stir fry with brown rice or quinoa
Dessert:
Watermelon slices or almond milk rice pudding
Sample Menu Day 2
Breakfast:
Steel cut oats topped with walnuts and blueberries
Snack:
1 hard boiled egg
Lunch:
Grilled shrimp with corn and black bean salad
Snack:
1/2 sliced apple with almond butter
Dinner:
Grilled wild caught salmon with pesto roasted veggies
Dessert:
