Meditation is a very powerful tool for stress and anxiety reduction. If you are new to guided meditation, here is why you should be practicing.
1.) First off, meditation cultivates mindfulness; which helps us to stay in the present. Our physical bodies cannot be in the past, or in the future. The only place that our physical bodies can be in is the present. By setting aside at least 10 minutes a day to meditate, you are helping to train your brain to stay more present, which will lead to less anxiety, and more peace.
2.) Practicing meditation helps you to let go of grudges and not stay angry at yourself or others. Because meditation cultivates mindfulness, this also means that a consistent meditation practice will help you to see the bigger picture of every situation. You will be more aware of the thoughts in your head, and thoroughly think through your responses before speaking them out loud. Leading you to be a better communicator, and responder.
3.) Meditation actually helps lengthen your attention span. Practicing meditation means focusing on one topic or intention to guide your mind back to in times of distraction. When we consistently start to implement this, we start to practice this when we are not meditating. Allowing this to become a lifestyle! Meaning that we will be able to focus on one thing at a time throughout the day, and not feel so scattered and shattered in our thinking.
There are countless benefits to having a meditation practice, but these are by far the most profound benefits one might experience upon adopting a meditation practice. Here is to less anxiety, and more mindful thinking!
