Spending time with family is all about creating memories and feeling gratitude for the cherished moments spent with one another.
Finding fun things to do with the family is actually a lot easier than you might think! Here are a few things to do with the family that will leave you with joy in your heart!
1.) Visit a national park, or hiking trail. Spending time in nature provides innumerable health benefits for the mind, body, and soul. Connecting with loved ones is always easier when you are in a place with enough space for your body to move and your mind to think. It is a great way to connect without having to use up too much time talking!
2.) Shop at a local farmers market. If you are a family that loves to shop, try shopping at your local farmers market. There are always so many hardworking entrepreneurs looking to share their goodness with their community, and you can always feel the love they put into their handcrafted items. Doing this with family helps you to start to appreciate the simple things in life. Whether that is a jar of pickles, or a hand crocheted blanket. Blissful moments of connecting with other individuals who just want to cherish simplicity, changes a person's perspective.
3.) Have a picnic. It is a pretty typical occasion for families to go out to a restaurant for a meal. While this is also great, there can be many distractions that prevent families from spending time connecting. When you choose a picnic you can talk about the happiest parts of their day, express concerns in a peaceful way, or just mindfully enjoy the food. Having picnics cultivates mindfulness. When we spend more time in mindfulness, we spend more time in our parasympathetic nervous system, (rest and digest), which allows us to have a calmer state of mind, and less likely to get angry at little things (or each other).
Spending time with family is good for the soul. Try out these fun activities the next time you have a family day planned!
