3 Reasons to Visit Puerto Rico this Year

3 Reasons to Visit Puerto Rico this Year

The sun is shining and travel is back in full swing! With so many incredible destinations around the world, it can be overwhelmingly tough to decide where to travel to next. Luckily, we’ve got just the spot for your next vacation: Puerto Rico. Here are 3 reasons that you must visit this beautiful Caribbean island as soon as possible:

Puerto Rico is a territory of the US

If you’re a US citizen, traveling to Puerto Rico is unbelievably easy! No passport is required and there are no Covid entry requirements for PR or to return to the mainland US since you’re technically traveling within the US. Even though it’s part of the US, the culture is completely different with its Latino influence. It’s like visiting a completely new country without actually leaving the US. It’s only a 2.5 hour direct flight from Miami and 4 hour direct flight from New York City. It’s hard to beat that!

There is something for everyone

We all seek different experiences out of our vacations, making it sometimes difficult to plan a trip for a group of people because everyone has their own unique wants and interests. Luckily, Puerto Rico has you covered on that one! With its diverse landscape, the island offers something for everyone. Puerto Rico is filled with incredible beaches for those wanting to experience some sand and sun, mountainous jungle areas for hiking and visiting waterfalls, and San Juan is a great spot for those who love culture, history, and beautiful architecture. The island is about 100 miles long and 40 miles wide, making it quite accessible to drive around the entire island. Puerto Rico also has two smaller islands off the mainland island that you can take a ferry to, called Culebra and Vieques.

Puerto Rico has some of the best food EVER

I just returned from Puerto Rico last month and was absolutely shocked at how delicious the food was! I had some of the best meals of my entire life, and I’ve traveled to over 40 countries, so that’s saying a lot. Puerto Rico has various traditional foods, all of which are so unique and delicious! Some of the highlights are Mofongo (made from fried green plantains and stuffed with seafood or meat), alcapurrias (fritters made with yucca and plantain, filled with ground beef), and mallorcas (sweet breakfast bread). Make sure to visit Cafetería Mallorca for breakfast (get the mallorca breakfast sandwich!) and Casita Miramar for dinner.
